Short description

1st Phase – Information collection

Project idea is based on information gathered during DD project in 2017 and on active participation of the emcc team on “as it is” operation of the Unit #1 to confirm or modify proposal of design modifications for various plant parts, but mainly on the area of boiler and its accessories.

Summary of the initial steps:

a) specification of all damaged, missed, not completed equipment for their repair/purchasing

b) individual tests of all equipment (mechanical, electrical, I&C, electro, civil, fire protection)

c) functionality tests of all individual technological groups/sub-systems The similar approach will be applied for coal treatment, washing plant, coal transportation, coal yard.

2nd Phase – Trial run

1. Continuous and stable operation for certain period (on the parameters which will be allowed and achieved from the 1st Phase). During this period all experiences with operation will be recorded. It is high priority to operate TPP without dangerous conditions to avoid / minimize the shortage of lifetime of the key equipment or their damage. To keep HSE instruction is top high priority for all III phases.

2. Evaluation of operating experiences. The detailed evaluation of operation during Trial Run period will be done. During this period all experiences with operation will be recorded.

3rd Phase – Measures implementation

The scenarios for the Upgrade will be elaborated based on decision upon the results of previous phases operation

Two alternatives will be prepared:

A) Upgrade / improve optimize operation in the status “As it is”, means in general with the already installed main equipment with the focus to achieve its reliable operation.

B) Upgrade with redesign of the key equipment to achieve originally designed 2x145 MWe..
